Wow! I can't believe I have 6 followers here :-) I'm not sure what they are following, because I hardly ever post any updates, but I thank each and every one of you and I will try to post a little more regular from now on.

First the disclaimer. I am NOT a dietician/dietitian Whatever... a nutritionist, a nurse, a doctor, or a heath care provider of any sort.
I am a person with my own personal points of view and a mom of a childhood cancer survivor.

I have been seeing different blogs, posts, and comments all over the internet this past week about different eating lifestyles and I thought let's talk turkey (No pun intended...Well maybe a little one) since Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

Oh and thinking of turkeys, Chippendales tweeted my name on twitter the other day, now you are going to ask, What does that have to do with Turkeys? That's what I was thinking. No actually I was thinking Why were they tweeting me, I don't even follow them on twitter, so I tweeted them and then they tweeted me back and here's what they said Chippendales The Chippendales

Recently in the news Postal workers nationwide are being told they might be laid off. Many Postal Facilities will be closing and mail delivery will no longer be done on Saturdays. I've heard that there could be up to 35,000 layoffs. (Don't quote me though) That's means thousands more in the unemployment lines across the US.
Hello! This is our fault! What with internet and Facebook and emails we no longer sit down and write a letter or send a card. We pay 90% of our bills online. We do our banking online.

We expect higher wages and yet we want to shop at Walmart and the 99 cent stores. We don't want to pay higher prices and we purchase items that are made in China! Many manufacturers are moving to other countries so they don't have to pay higher wages and taxes.

Somewhere, somehow we need to take a stand!

First step is to read the labels and find out where your merchandise is made. If it isn't made in America don't buy it. I know this is hard to do, but at least try and Second....Send a card to a friend a family member just to say Hi.

Happy Hump day! It is right? Being at home all the time and following Australia time along with my own, I lose my days!

I was watching Dr. Oz a couple of weeks ago and he was doing a program on butt drop.
Okay I know, terrible subject right? But he was saying to use these underwear with butt pads
to give you more curves and a nicer derriere. My take on this is we pad out butts and our bras,
yes it does help to give your body more definition, but if you are trying to attract a guy,
when you take off your clothes for the first time in front of him, isn't he going to wonder,
"What happened to your body?"
Learn to love your body with all it's flaws first, then if you aren't happy with it's shape and size
do something about it! And by that I mean, if you need to lose weight don't go on one
of those fad diets, just start eating healthier and cut back on portion size.
You don't have to starve yourself or deprive yourself. Fad diets don't work in the long run and
they are not healthy. You didn't get this way overnight, so you can't change it overnight!
As they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day!"

A little exercise every day goes a long way. Did you know that by building muscle, you speed up your metabolism, which in turn burns more fat? And the added benefits are more energy and better health.
So get moving. You don't have to be a body builder, but using weights can give you more definition, a toned body and burn more fat. A word of caution though...Your body's bone structure is you, If you are short you're going to stay short, if you are tall, yes you'll stay tall, And if you have big feet and a pear shape like I have, well.... So stand up straight and be proud of yourself. You are AWESOME!

My Dad is a very intelligent man. Okay enough of that he'll get a fat head! LOL! But a big dingbat at times. A few weeks ago he was taking my stepmom to get her blood drawn for some tests and he drove around for 2 hours and couldn't find the place. So what does he do, drives all the way back home, calls me and tells me to look up the directions on line and email them to him. Okay I can do that. And in the next breath he says, "How do I get my email up? I haven't had any email in 3 days!" So Why am I going to send him an email??? Too funny.

Last week they got a new phone and I went out and programmed it for them on Sunday, (they love getting new electronic gadgets, because it keeps me busy) Monday he calls me and says, I don't think this new phone rings, call me back. Okay done... Yes it does ring, yes it does work. Tuesday morning Dad calls again, "I don't think this new phone is working and Jinny's phone by her chair just has a humming noise. Well the phone by Jinny's chair won't work because you unplugged the main phone from the phone jack that sends the signal to Jinny's cordless phone, and dad says "I can't hear you, talk to Jinny!" Gotta love my dad! He's just too funny! Well moral to the story...Ah heck I don't have one! Enjoy your day everyone!

Yes, it's sad to hear me say that, especially when I say it to my self! I pay all my bills online, except the water bill. They don't do online billing! So once a month they make me get up off this chair, go get in the car and drop off my bill in their night drop box. :-(( Anyway, I have been putting it off and they came around with the orange notices today and stuck it on the fence. My little dog Duggy went and got it off the fence for me. Well to say the least, yes he did shred it.... A few minutes later he scratched on the door wanting in, so I opened the door for him and he starts walking in, then stopped went back to the bill and picked up just one piece of it and dropped it at my feet. There mom I killed it for you, and he sat there looking up at me Just like a cat would when it brings that dreaded mouse and drops it at your feet and as you're sitting there screaming the mouse scurries off! Well just my luck the bill didn't scurrie off. Darn! But at least he brought me the most important part! Have a great day everyone!

I am over here on Blogger, because facebook isn't being nice this morning! Good morning everyone. I was just sitting here thinking there are only so many hours in a day to accomplish everything we want and need to do. I don't know about you, but I always seem to have a list a mile long. There's always that housework and laundry. There's shopping and yardwork. Not to mention work, fb, family, friends, and trying to squeeze in some exercise and taking care of ourselves. Accomplishments are always good! Today doesn't look good though! Just kidding. So far I have cleaned my bathrooms, made my bed, did laundry, dishes and worked on my beach body! It's not quite ready, but Hey at least I'm trying! LOL! Now I will head out and get some yardwork done as soon as I put on my sunscreen. Make the most of your day today! Some people put up brick walls to keep others out. Others put them up, just to see who cares enough to knock them down. Sometimes, I'm afraid of what will be on the other side of these walls as I take them apart.

I have a picket fence and a gate with a lock on it. You can see over it, but must have a key to get inside, which most do. But what lies beyond that are various doors, some open, but most closed. Sometimes I accidently leave a door open and people go through and that scares me.

There is one door that remains locked at all times. Some have found the key, but only a few have been allowed to stay and will remain there forever. Others have caused pain or hurt, so the locks have been changed and now they must find a new key, and a new way to get in.

My sister emailed me this and it's well worth taking a little extra time to look.....

Check this out. I can verify this because I was in Lowes the

other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at

attachments. They were all made in China . The next day I was

in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the

hose attachments there. They were made in USA . Start looking ..

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do

affects someone else - even their job . So, after reading this email,

think this lady is on the right track . Let's get behind her!

My grandson likes Hershey's candy. I noticed, though, that it

is marked made in Mexico now. I do not buy it any more.

My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico ... now I have

switched to Crest. You have to read the labels on everything

This past weekend I was at Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs

and Bounce dryer sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle, and right

next to the GE brand I normally buy, was an off-brand labeled,

"Everyday Value . " I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the

stats - they were the same except for the price..

The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but

the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made

in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for

this - the USA in a company in Cleveland, Ohio.

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day

that are made right here ..

So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets . .. . yep, you

guessed it, Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada . The

Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did

laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce

Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price!

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop

for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA

the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!

If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your

address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at

a time! Stop

buying from overseas companies! (We should have awakened a decade

ago .. . .. . . . )

keep their jobs and create more jobs here in the U. S. A..

Government Bailouts

I am tired of hearing about bailouts. Bailout the banks, the auto industry, the credit card companies, and now Larry Flint wanting $5 billion to bail out the porn industry? Give me a break, the government needs to put the money where it will do the most good, and that is to bail out the people. Do you think people want to lose their homes? Have their cars repossessed? Have collection agencies calling night and day? No. By giving $50,000 to single taxpayers, and $100,000 to married ones, our economy would recover. The people would pay their bills and the financial institutions would get their money. This in turn would stimulate our economy. People would be able to buy clothes and shoes for their children. They'd be able to fill their gas tanks and even enjoy a dinner and movie out. The government's $300 stimulus checks aren't enough. All they do is get a weeks worth of groceries and hopefully keep the electric on for another month.
What happened to "By the People, For the People?" Our government, big businesses, and lobbyists wouldn't be where they are, if not for the people.
Stand up and let your voices be heard. Write to your senators, congressmen, governors, mayors, and even our new president. We need to say "Enough is Enough"

Hey, it's finally Sat. What a week. I was going to tell you I had a bad week, but, overall, it wasn't so bad. My silent business partner came by to collect the rent ( he wasn't very silent this week, though) but that wasn't bad, because we got to catch up on everything. Then, I went to the dentist and had some minor surgery done, (that was bad) $652.20 out of my pocket. But there were other good things this week. I had a few customers, which is always good, and a good friend and my sister came by to visit. And even my Dad stopped by my shop. So, overall my week was pretty good. How was yours?

Leukemia

Yesterday my nephew called me and told me that his wife's niece was diagnosed with leukemia. Which is a cancer of the blood. Her name is Amanda and she is 14 years old. I have often encouraged everyone to support the Leukemia Society and the Make a Wish Foundation, because when my son had leukemia they were very supportive in our fight against his disease. So once again, I am asking you to support them and please say a prayer for Amanda, because she is just beginning on a new uphill battle.

Camping at Cherry Valley Lakes

Well, we just got home today from a three day camping trip at Cherry Valley Lakes resort. It was nice overall. It was just Bob, Adam, and myself. Jarrod didn't want to go and Bobby had to work. We took Mitzy, and Adam took his dog Slick. Poor Slick didn't have that much fun though, he was sick the whole time. Adam took him to the vet's today and he has parvo. So he'll be at the vet's for 4 days. Enjoy the pictures.

Well, it's been a long time since I posted. I want to tell everyone about our new RV. It is a 1992 Gulf Stream Conquest. We just made a trip in it to Washington, to see my Dad and Stepmom. It drove really well. It is 27 ft. long and has twin beds in the back, an overhead queen size bed, a couch, and a dinette. So plenty of sleeping and riding space. My only complaint is, there is no counter space. But overall we got a great deal on it.

My son was diagnosed with leukemia in 1987 and he has been cancer free since he went into remission. Money was tight and we lived on a very small budget. Some of the charities that helped us were, The Cancer Society, the Leukemia society, the Candlelighters, and the Make A Wish foundation. These charities are a crucial part of cancer patients lives. So, I would like to encourage everyone to give to their favorite charities.

Let's talk about some Feel Good movies today. Last night I watched "The Gridiron", with "The Rock" in it. It was a really good movie, not anything like what I expected. Another movie I would recommend is the "Return of the Titans" Excellent movie. And last but not least would be "Crash". All three movies have to do with overcoming predjudices and rivaries. If you haven't seen these, consider them the next time you head for the video store. And if you have any favorites, let me know. I'm always on the lookout for a good movie. Have a good day.

Wow! Time really does fly! Here it is May 14th. already. I sold the popup trailer. I enjoyed a nice Mother's day and so did my shop, and am now looking forward to Dad's and grad's days. I was reading posts on Startup Nation about marketing and blogs, and I thought I had better get busy and post on my blog. So here I am. My gift shop has been going thru quite a few changes. I've put up a neon open sign, added more gifts, and have been rearranging everything. In a few days I will post some new pictures of my shop. If you're in the area drop by and chat.

A week already

Here it is January 7, 2008. We are already a week into the new year. I still haven't found my dog, Dingo, yet and am fighting a virus of some sort. I hope everyone's year is going good so far. Today I want to talk about dogs. I have two, but one is missing. His name is Dingo and he was last seen in Fontana, CA on Dec. 16, 2007. Something must have spooked him and he went over the chain link fence. He is 6 years old. We have had him since he was a puppy. He's tan, has a curled tail, black colorings on his tongue, and limps on his back left leg, due to surgery in May.

Well, it is Dec. 2. The countdown has really begun. I have been working on plaster of paris wreaths, but I just can't seem to get them right. They turn out pretty and festive, but around the edges they crumble. I've tried painting them, but it doesn't stick very well. I've also tried getting the mixture at different consistencies, but to no avail. Any ideas?
